On 19th August, Walmart announced that it would end its four-year partnership with DoorDash. The partnership is said to come to a close in September officially. The 30-day notice was sent to DoorDash, earlier this month.

DoorDash and Walmart's association began in April of 2018 when DoorDash aided in the delivery of Walmart's groceries. The initial operations of this partnership started in the Atlanta metro area, where both companies tested out their service.

In an email that Walmart released, the company stated that they thank DoorDash for their "partnership and support" for the past few years. Walmart said that it will now focus on providing merchants support via its platform offerings. With regards to the split, the retail store giant added that the deal was "no longer mutually beneficial".

Since the deal between DoorDash and Walmart has come to a close, DoorDash is now focusing on creating new partnerships. In August of this, the company confirmed its collaboration with Meta . As per this new partnership, DoorDash will assist in delivering items on behalf of Facebook Marketplace . The deal is in its initial stages, and the services are being tested in a few US cities already.

Furthermore, DoorDash has also been trying out new ventures since this year. For example, DoorDash has been testing out its package return feature since March. This feature helps customers to return items to UPS, FedEx and the post office.

Walmart has also been busy building its own delivery service, Spark. Recently Walmart announced that it had acquired Delivery Drivers , a gig-worker management company. This company will be assisting Walmart in creating its Spark platform. So far, Spark has grown sizeably and accounts for up to 75% of Walmart's deliveries. It can now serve 84% of US households with over 7,000 pickup points.
