Microsoft has announced that its Power Apps portals will be renamed Power Pages. The company has also unveiled some new Power Platform capabilities that should help developers quickly build modern and secure solutions.
Microsoft Power Pages is a platform for developing, configuring, and publishing business-focused web pages and apps to engage customers and partners. The Power Pages Design studio enables developers to create websites from the ground up, complete with text, images, videos, and business data forms and lists for desktop and mobile devices.
Furthermore, some ready-to-use Power Pages business solution templates for scenarios such as managing registration, scheduling, and application submission are available.
Following that, Microsoft is releasing a public preview of a Learn hub that includes step-by-step guides, videos, tutorials, and resources for developers. Microsoft Power Pages now integrates with Azure DevOps, GitHub, and Visual Studio.
“As a new, standalone product, Power Pages empowers anyone, regardless of their technical background, with an effective platform to create data-powered, modern, and secure websites,” Charles Lamanna, CVP of business applications and platform at Microsoft, said in a blog post. “In addition to being low-code, Power Pages extends far beyond portals former capabilities to enable organizations of any size to securely build websites with exciting new aesthetic features and advanced capabilities for customization with pro-dev extensibility.”
Microsoft emphasized that businesses can also use role-based access controls and Azure to secure their websites. Finally, the Microsoft Dataverse platform now allows users to collect and share sensitive information with site visitors in a secure manner.
The Power Apps Express design tool allows for quick conversations.
Along with Power Pages, Microsoft is introducing a new "Express design" tool in Power Apps. Users can now convert images, PDF documents, PowerPoint presentations, and screenshots into low-code Power apps using the new AI-powered feature. Users will be able to scan any of these inputs and generate a working application with a backend data scheme as a result.
Microsoft is introducing "Power Virtual Agents 2.0," a new intelligent bot authoring experience. The new collaborative bot building studio simplifies the creation of sophisticated conversational AI bots for developers. It includes several new features, such as support for rich multimedia responses, speech authoring and telephony bots, and others.
