Akuity, a Kubernetes-native application delivery software provider driven by the Argo Project, has closed a $20 million (USD) Series A fundraising round. The funding was spearheaded by Lead Edge Capital and Akuity's current investor, Decibel Partners. It will help the firm construct the most sophisticated Kubernetes application delivery platform, backed by the Argo Project.
Why did the Founders opt for Akuity?
Hong Wang, Co-Founder and CEO of Akuity, Jesse Suen, Co-Founder and CTO of Akuity, and Alexander Matyushentsev, Co-Founder and Chief Architect of Akuity, are co-creators of the Argo Project, a set of open-source tools for deploying and operating applications and workloads on Kubernetes. Argo will always be an unrestricted open source project, but they recognised that it would benefit from commercial support and a vendor to help it grow. The Akuity Platform will give DevOps battle-tested patterns packed in a system that provides the greatest developer experience. The extra cash will allow them to not just launch the Akuity Platform but also improve Argo. Their DNA is open source, and they are 100% committed to making Argo the most successful Kubernetes project. They want to use the Series A funding to expand the team and give back to the community even more.
What are the commercial products Akuity is working on?
Akuity is working on two commercial products:
- Platform Akuity: A fully managed DevOps platform based on the Argo project that solves real-world business use-cases while focusing on delivering an amazing developer experience. The Akuity Platform is now in closed beta, with a broader release expected later this year.
- Akuity Enterprise: An open-source version of all four Argo projects that come with business support and features to make Argo even more useful and enterprise-ready. Akuity Enterprise is now accessible.
Purpose of Akuity in the future?
Argo was created specifically to handle the issues of developing and deploying Kubernetes applications. Argo's set of tools has clearly captured the hearts of developers, as seen by its quick adoption and strong open source community. The Akuity team is well-positioned to provide corporations with the solutions they need to deploy at scale as co-creators of Argo, and they are excited to work with them on this exciting opportunity. The Akuity founding team has created an incredible community around the open-source Argo project, which has been extensively adopted by engineering teams worldwide. They've spent years assisting the world's most inventive firms in harnessing the potential of Kubernetes and the cloud. They're dedicated to assisting teams of all sizes in unleashing the speed and scalability of Dev GitOps. Everyone is ecstatic about their quick progress and is looking forward to working with them in the future. Hong Wang, ChieTechnology Officer Jesse Suen, and Chief Architect Alexander Matyushentsev, Akuity's co-founders, created the Argo Project to assist in abstracting away some of the operational problems around how Kubernetes applications are managed, monitored, and deployed. However, they did feel that commercial sponsorship and enterprise-level help would be beneficial to the initiative.
